5 Benefits Of Working From Home

I've been working from home for a good few years now whilst on maternity leave as well as working a part time job and have now been working from home full time for the past couple of months since I quit my job back in August. Working from home often has it cons but I would definitely say the pros outweigh them.

Aside from being able to work from the comfort of my sofa in my pjs here are 5 benefits of working from home:

Being your own boss

This is what I love the most about working from home and being self employed, the fact that I'm my own boss means I can pick and choose my own work hours and days to suit myself and my family. I make all of the decisions, have no rules to obey by and the freedom to do what I want when I want. If I want to paint the office then I can, if I want to take the day off then I can.

No commuting costs

Since you'll be working from home there are no commuting costs. The average commuting costs for a worker in the UK is £150 a month which may include train fares, parking and petrol. So essentially you can give yourself a pay rise and be £150 better off each month and say goodbye to long commutes, long rainy journeys and high fuel prices.

Cashless technology

Being self employed and working from home means I have to deal with all of the finances and invoicing myself. Cashless technology is the future and makes payments from clients easier to handle. How many cashless transactions have you made this past month? From using credit or debit cards for petrol and food and direct debit for bills. Many of us are now opting for electronic payments without if noticing. I use PayPal on a daily basis for business expenses and invoicing clients.

Flexibility to work around the kids

Another bonus of working from home is that I get to see the kids more, I can switch and change my plans if we want to go for a walk or have a day out I can work in the evening instead. I get to do all of the school runs, taking Amelia to swimming lessons and spend more time together as a family.

No uniform

Most jobs require a uniform of some sort, whether it be office attire, a workwear. However this can be a pain to wash and iron ready for your next shift. Working from home means you no longer need a uniform and can wear what ever clothes you feel comfortable in, you could even wear your pyjamas all day if you wanted. Although not getting dressed each day can create an informal atmosphere which in turn could see you feeling unmotivated. Try and get dressed and ready for the day each morning.

Do you work from home? What do you love the most about it?
